/sahm-tah-leh/ — from the Norwegian word samtale, meaning “conversation”

Samtalä | Musicians in Dialogue, is a chamber music project rooted in community and musical dialogue — between instruments, artists, space, and listener. Every performance is a meeting of ideas, voices, and shared presence.

History:

Samtalä is the evolution of the Stoughton Chamber Music Festival, which began in 2019 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, a town rich in Norwegian heritage. Through it’s name, ‘Samtalä’ gives a nod to where it began while opening space for growth beyond the summer season and beyond Stoughton itself.

Focus:

Samtalä creates innovative concert experiences that explore novel pairings between established, contemporary, and newly commissioned works. Through chamber music concerts and interactive children’s concerts, Samtalä participates in the evolving landscape of classical music while centering the experience of our listeners and musicians.
